music teaching

I teach piano, classical organ, keyboard, singing and theory on a "one to one" basis to both adults and children.

Lessons are for 30 or 45 minutes (20 minutes in the case of extremely young children).

Some of my students are entered for the examinations of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM). Not everyone wants to study for examinations though - some students wish to play simply for enjoyment without the pressure of examinations. (Examinations are are good goal for children to aim for and it gives them something to work towards). I have had a 100% pass rate in examinations since 1988!

I teach at home in Hayle, in St Ives, Penzance and Helston and can occasionally (timetable permitting) do home visits by arrangement.

I do NOT subscribe to "group tuition" - I frequently hear of other service providers teaching two children on the same piano at the same time, and even groups of four or five at a time sharing a keyboard (or other instrumental) lesson. I consider such practices to be totally unprofessional, a total waste of money and I can't for one minute, see how satisfactory progress can be made in such curcumstances!
